NURSE DELEGATION
Under Washington State law, the Nurse Delegation Program empowers long-term care workers in specific settings to undertake tasks typically reserved for licensed nurses, such as administering prescription medications or conducting blood glucose testing. However, these responsibilities must be carried out under the supervision and instruction of a registered nurse, who is tasked with teaching and overseeing the nursing assistant. Additionally, the registered nurse conducts nursing assessments to evaluate the patient's condition, ensuring that care is delivered safely and effectively within the parameters of the law.
PURPOSE
Nurse Delegation plays a pivotal role in empowering individuals in need of nursing care to maintain their residence in an Adult Family Home (AFH), Assisted Living Facility (ALF), or their own home, rather than necessitating placement in a nursing home. Consider a scenario where an individual requires daily medical assistance, such as medication management, wound care, tube feedings, or insulin injections, traditionally requiring either relocation to a nursing home or privately funded daily visits from a registered nurse. Through the Nurse Delegation Program, a registered nurse educates a designated non-medical caregiver in the precise techniques required to administer the necessary care. This program thus enables individuals to receive essential medical support within their preferred living environment, promoting independence and enhancing their quality of life.
WE ACCEPT URGENT REQUESTS FOR DELEGATION AND ASSESSMENTS
Nurse Delegation
Residents requiring nurse delegation for services, enabling home care aides to administer medications, undergo thorough review by an RN delegator. Each delegated task is meticulously discussed with caregivers to uphold resident safety.
Nurse Delegation - 90 days visit
In accordance with WAC rules, reevaluation and documentation of the resident by the nurse delegator must be conducted every 90 days to ensure compliance and quality care.
Nurse Delegation - Diabetes special focus
RN delegation for administration of insulin and for blood sugar testing.
Initial Assessment
Prior to admission to adult family homes and other long-term care settings, clients undergo a comprehensive assessment conducted by an RN delegator. This assessment is essential for evaluating the client's needs and ensuring that appropriate care plans are developed to meet those needs effectively. By conducting thorough assessments, we aim to facilitate the placement process and ensure that clients receive the level of care that best suits their individual requirements.
Initial/Annual Assessment with Delegation
We offer a Comprehensive Assessment, inclusive of initial nurse delegation, to all clients. This assessment is a crucial step in understanding the resident's needs and tailoring our care accordingly. It is important to note that this initial assessment expires after one year, necessitating an annual reassessment to thoroughly evaluate the resident's condition and ensure that our care remains aligned with their evolving needs.
